@Denise1 you can use your phone but at standard rates only http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad

Unless completely unavoidable we would recommend that you use a local SIM card, at least for data, or only use free wifi where available.
Currently using:

Don't forget to turn voicemail off before you go as an added precaution Turn it off by dialling 1760 and when you get home dial 1750 to turn it back on again.
