Boost box - Hang your heads in shame O2

Anonymous

Hi Guys - first post and its gonna be a moan

I have been a loyal O2 customer (15ish years, initially on pay monthly then later simplicity - only ever had one year with Vodafone previous to that and some work phones on Orange) but the way O2 has treated their customers regarding the roll out of Boost boxes has appalled me

I had heard about these first via Vodafone who not only made them available much sooner (and I know of many people who switched purely on the strength of this product so that shows the gravity of their appeal), they more importantly made them available to EVERYONE (not just business custmers), and, at a fraction of the price (around a third of the cost I believe for what it appears is essentially the same product)

I should also point out that people are only having to purchase these products to get the service (reception) that they are already paying O2 to supply but not receiving so charging for such a product (which is essentially to fill in the gaps in your network) at all should be frowned upon

I have also spoken to various O2 staff regarding this, most agree it is wrong but they don't make the rules.

I am also amazed as to how many people work at O2 and don't know that this item is available - I even had one guy who told me during a live web chat that O2 definitely did not sell such a product, so, I sent him the link to it from the O2 website. I spoke with one tonight and he suggested that I did not need this unit as the TUGO app would be simpler/easier, except that I cannot find it in the app store and a quick Google suggests it hasnt been launched yet (although he clearly was under the impression it was)

In conclusion I am very disappointed with the way O2 has handled this - it very much seems that despite years of loyal service to the O2 brand not to mention the several thousand pounds it cost for the privelidge I cannot recieve the same products/sevices as a new O2 business customer that signed up today

I would very much like to hear why O2 believe this was the correct course of action in this instance, and more importantly taking in to consideration the points above, how they could ever consider this as "Fair"?

I imagine the Vodafone Sure signals couldnt be any more useless than an O2 offering which you cannot get registered due to company beurocracy!

So are you suggesting that O2 and Vodafone are sourcing the same product from the same company but one is being charged around triple which they then have to pass on to the customer?

Either the Vodafone Purchasing agent is very good or the O2 one is very poor!

Business addresses do not move so if you start a business or are employed by a business then the chances are you are stuck in one location and a lack of signal will cause a issue to your business and the options to leave the blackspot are limited.

Surely a more logical approach for you friend is to forward calls to his landline when in the blackspot.

If the blackspot is not unique to just O2 and he can claim the box back under his business, then I do not see the point of your post.

Added to the fact that Vodafone suresignal hardly works, O2 have poured there resources into finding a definitive solution which TUGO sounds like it will.

It seems very strange to me that somebody would get so animated about something that does not effect them.

Maybe a strongly worded letter to O2 from you would help. I suspect they will just laugh you off but politely tell you to get a life.

As stated already O2 are going to provide a free option so why waste money on a boostbox that has not worked for vodafone customer.

Pull your head out and you may see some daylight.

Have you had access to both boxes to be able to state they are in fact the same working components?

This has got to be deemed as trolling.

There have been users who have been given boost boxes when they sincerely have trouble (no charge) I'm rather confused why this thread has appeared your points make sense but they appear to be nothing less than attempting to incite an argument.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

Have you asked yourself why O2 didnt want to/couldnt make them available to everyone?

Yes we have, take a look here and you'll see why O2 didn't go ahead with them:

I suspect they probably are the exact same models but supply and demand is the key to costing. O2 will not have set the prices on the boost boxes it will be the manufacturer and if O2 have not committed to buying a certain amount to the fact that know they have a far superior product coming out which will be free then of course costs are going to be high.

You do not have to be a business customer to buy the box and can in fact by direct from the manufacturer. Guess what the costs are the same.

Brilliant link perksie 80% of threads on first page are about the box having stopped working/faulted somehow.

Tugo is taking a lot longer to appear than I'd imagined though:(

Business addresses do not move? Thats one of the strangest statements Ive ever heard - why dont they move then? I know for definite that the person in question moved his business (including address) fairly recently - is this now illegal?

Yes, he could forward his calls (and he has done) but why should he pay to forward when theres another option?

For the third time, he is on a deal which is built around his travel needs - and anyway, why should he change to Business, why cant O2 offer the Boostbox to all the same as their competitors?

If the Sure signal hardly works why are O2 offering them at all? TUGO sounds brilliant but - at this moment in time - is not available so its as much use as a chocolate teapot

It seems very strange to me that a company sources a solution to issue common to many of their customers but only offers it to a select few (no one has made any attempt to explain this point yet I notice)

I have already been in contact with O2 regarding this issue and everyone I spoke with said they are being asked this question a lot and they would like to offer them to everyone but for now its business only (and no one could explain why)

Resorting to insults just shows a lack of intelligence IMO - grow up

As stated - O2 have not yet released this "free option" (and given their track record for releasing such products I remain sceptical) so the problem remains

Once again, resorting to insults just shows a lack of intelligence IMO - grow up
