Undelivered Text Messages - Can They Be Extended?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello Everyone,

It is my first time posting on here, so please be gentle with me!

I work away on a North Sea Oil Rig often for 3 weeks at a time. During this time away I have zero network coverage.

This of course means that text messsages can't be delivered. When I return back to land and switch my phone back on it goes crazy as my messages get delivered.

The problem is that not all my messages get delivered. I have a feeling that after one week of attempting to deliver the messages O2 gives up.

So my quesiton is there anyway this time can be extended. I tried calling customer services but to be honest, the person did not really understand what I was asking.

Thanks in advance!

Dave

Hi and Welcome to the forum,

I have not come across anything that can be accessed to extend the sending time on a text message.

The network will keep trying for a period of time of 7 days{i believe}, and then quit.

Do you have wifi on the rig.

Other software such as TuGo or Viber could be an alternative.

Perhaps e mailing you instead !

Hey Thanks for the reply.

Yeah sometimes I have wifi and I use TuGo and it is brilliant. This rig though has no wifi and no signal. Ah well, looks like a weeks worth of texts will once again be lost forever!

What phone do you have?

I know if my phone fails to send a text if I have no signal, all I have to do is select the text and choose the "resend message" option when I have a signal again.

I don't understand why you are losing your sent texts Smiley Frustrated

He's not receiving texts that have been sent to him while he is out of network cover for 3 weeks at a time due to working offshore.

The network attempts to send a text for a maximum of 7 days.

The OP said "The problem is that not all my messages get delivered." I read that as not all of the messages he sends while he is away get delivered...
