Windows phone 8.1

Windows phone 8.1 should be announced today with a rumoured release date of 23rd April.
So question is, how long until O2 get it out to us? I'm starting my campaign now due the stupidly long wait for gdr3 on huawei w1.

The O2 Guru is wrong when he says you'll get the update from O2. If you have an unbranded Ativ S, you'll get the 8.1 update from Nokia/Microsoft directly, regardless of the SIM card you're using.

Unless he/she's referring to Tap to Pay specifically, which may just need the O2 sim card (let's hope that's the case).

If it's an Ativ s we're talking about I think you'll find the updates will come from Samsung....
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

OK, it's now August. If O2 have finished their testing why hasn't the 1020 update shipped yet?

I got the update for the Lumia 1320 31/07/14, so it's live now for any O2 customers out there with that phone.

However, I'm not sure the update is coming from O2 - spoke to the O2 store and they said it wasn't them, it was coming from Nokia.

According to this website, there's no mention of O2 for the 1320 in the UK but I'm assuming it comes under "regional variant"

Cortana is great, just a pain to get it!!

I update my handset using software which is quicker and more reliable than ota network updates. Unless the handset is locked to the o2 network, you should be able obtain any updates without issue.

o2 have a blog where they're keeping customers informed of the progress with 8.1 rollout to Nokia's - it's just not very easy to find.  Optimistically it looks like the release to 1020 handset will be at the end of this week (see 1st Aug update at the end of the article): http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Devices-Nokia-Blackberry/Windows-Phone-8-1-Update-All-the-info-ri...

Another good source of more general news on Windows Phone where you can get infor (not just o2 related) is here: http://www.wpcentral.com/articles

WPcentral is quite US biased, being one of the Mobile Nations sites, but if you want a more UK biased Windows Phone site then check out http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/

Good shout - I've listened to the AAWP podcasts and completely forgot that they have a great website too.
