Windows phone 8.1 update for non-nokia devices

Anonymous

Hi Everyone!

I have a HTC 8x and I've been waiting for the 8.1 update like everyone else. While the new info from O2 was really helpful, it doesn't say anything about non-Nokia devices so I was wondering if anyone has any information about it?

Thanks for all your responses everyone! I'll try and ask HTC about it and I'll post it here if they say anything.

I guess it might be a long wait for the update to come to the other devices

I had a live chat with HTC and they said they are still testing the update and they have no timeframe for the completion.

I have also contacted huawei and Samsung by email for people with other phones so when they reply I will post it up here.

Indeed - I'm sure there will be many interested members that have non-Lumia devices. Unfortunately until we're given official info by these manufacturers, we're unable to comment in an official capacity as to what their plans and/or progress are, but great to see some are replying directly to customers asking about the latest status of 8.1 on their devices.

Please do keep us updated on what you hear back @Anonymous and if/when we hear anything official, we'll be sure to keep everyone updated here on the Community.

Hey everyone!

I got a reply back from huawei and they also are in the middle of testing the update and do not have a timeframe either. I suspect that Samsung will have the same answer.

Its a good sign that they are working on it, but it might take some time to get to the rest of us

Thanks for sharing that GrimmjowGuy.

If you talk to a manufacturer again at all, feel free to update everyone here.

I just finished a live chat with HTC about 2 minutes ago unfortunately he said We do not have any information about when the update will be made available. This was in regards to a HTC Windows Phone 8 S by the way.

I've actually used the Email the CEO link on the Samsung UK website so I'll see what sort of response I get.
