Unusual High Data Usage with Lumia 640

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi I bought a Lumia 640 on Saturday.  My normal allowance is 500mb and my usual monthly data is around 250 so I am a low user. However, since buying the new phone my data allowance is fast disappearing.  Any ideas.  I contacted 02 Guru and they said to go to "Settings", "Phone" and "Phone Updates" but my phone doesn't have that so that was no help.  Something must be on to keep using all the data and I am closing all my apps all the time.  Thanks in advance!!

You need to look in Settings and go to "Data Sense"
Swipe left and you will see what's using data. You can also set usage limits in there too.

Is it a new connection?
They are pro rata so for the immediate first few days you get a % of data allowance until first bill generated.

As it's a new phone it will be loading up one drive and installing numerous updates - I would fully expect it to settle down after a few days but data sense will tell you for now what's going on, for sure.

I agree. And turn off auto updates, or, only allow updates when on WiFi. Do this in store settings.
