Tiscali email connection on Blackberry Z10

Anonymous

Hi,

I've recently changed my phone from a Blackberry9800 to a Z10 and am struggling to set up my Tiscali email.

Tiscali email worked fine on the 9800, set up via www.02email.co.uk, however O2email.co.uk doesn't support Blackberry os10.  So I've had to set up my email directly on the Z10, however I'm struggling to get the correct smtp settings, as it appears that O2 block port 25, which is the port Tiscali use!  So...

What setting should I be using for Tiscali or How do I find the settings on my 9800 (I can't see them on the phone because it was set up via o2email.co.uk.

Any ideas???

At last I've got there    It turns out that for reasons unknow, Tiscali email doesn't work via O2 (can receive, but not send) - This is strange, because my partner has a TalkTalk email address and this works fine with O2 !  So the solution...  Incoming email settings as you'd expect for Tiscali, outgoing need to be an O2 email address and password.  This sounds a compromise, but works fine - I receive email from my Tiscali email address and when I send them from my mobile, they appear to come from my Tiscali account. Strange, but great.  Hopefully this will help others...

So your Tiscali email forwarded your email to your o2.co.uk account? You just need the tiscali settings for your phone.

I don't think O2 would block port 25 as that is an SMTP port which is what most email providers use.

I'll have a hunt for the settings in a wee while

Okay I found the Information below that relates to an iPhone but all the settings will be there for the Z10 that you need to use.

Hope this helps!

Settings,
Choose Mail,Contacts, Calendars>

Add Account
Choose: Other
Add Mail Account>

Name : Joe Blogs
Email: JoeBlogs@tiscali.co.uk
Password: *********
Description: Tiscali
Choose [Next]
Looking up Account ....
Choose IMAP

change host name to IMAP.TISCALI.CO.UK
NEXT ...... Verifying
Choose NO , when you get the Cannot Connect Using SSL

NEXT
Choose SAVE
SAVE
Go to the Tiscali Mail option and open the settings

Click on Account,

Go to Advanced

and turn OFF the Use SSL setting,

and change the Server Port to 143
Go Back to <Account]

Click on the Outgoing server SMTP
Click on the smtp.tiscali.co.uk option and check the outgoing settings
Choose the Primary Server>

Turn OFF the use ssl setting
Chang e the server Port to 25

Select DONE
Go back to <Account]
Select DONE

Comment... The really important things are
A. Letting the iPhone wizard fail the SSL test first time round and saving the Settings - then going back in and setting the SSL and Port settings for IMAP and SMTP separately

B. Getting the IMAP settings for OFF SSL and the PORT 143
C. Getting OFF SSL in SMTP and the port set to 25

Hi PapaDug,

Many thanks for your time on this.  It's a strange one and I've found numerous posts that state O2 do block port25 for roaming IP (ie mobiles), I summising this is because they use that smtp port for their own email, although I can't yet prove this. ***O2 can you advise opn this please***

We originally set up the 9800 using www.02email.co.uk, which is a quick way of setting up your mail (I believe this website "sends" the email setting to your phone, job done), hence why we can't mirror the setting from the 9800 because we can't see them on the phone (not even through setup>email etc).

So this leaves me 2 choices:

1. Find an alternative SMTP port for Tiscali (TalkTalk said that was O2 problem!!! - I'm taking that up with them separately)

2 Find the email setting I used on my 9800 - Have posted this to Blackberry as well.

Can't believe I'm the only Z10 user on Tiscali and can't believe it's this difficult to set up !

For info, I don't believe there's an issue with the Z10 because I temporarily set up my partners email to come to my phone, right first time no problem, but that isn't a Tiscali email address!

Any ideas ?

I have an old Lineone email account that was taken over by Tiscali and subsequently taken over by Talk Talk. I haven't got a Z10, but have not had any problems setting up the account directly on my BB 9300 and then my 9810.

Here is a link to the Talk Talk website that explains how to set up an email account on both BB OS7 and BB10 devices:

Hope it helps you get the problem sorted.

Thanks Asdic_Ping for your suggestion, been there though and these setting don't work for Tiscali email on O2 mobiles !  I'm 99% certain it's to do with the SMTP port 25, which is blocked by O2.

Finding this really bizarre... !

The link from Asdic_ping should work as there is no mention of port 25 on there...in fact it states to use port 587 for SMTP Smiley Frustrated

That won't work after November as O2 are closing their email servers.
