SIM Card Space Full - Error Msg

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I'm using an O2 X3 fone with a SIM card that is about 12yrs old and from a previous fone.

Recently the front of the clamshell display shows the msg "SIM Card Space Full".

I have almost no content on the fone so I don't see how it cud be full. The fone also now makes random screeches at all hours of the day n nite.

The fone screeches when a text msg is received but it is not saved either in fone or memory card. The fone does ring for incoming calls and I can make outgoing calls.

I have removed the SIM and reinserted it. I have, of course, tried switching it off and on again 🙂 Does anyone have any idea about a solution?

I can afford a new cheap fone but I don't really want to lose my present fone number.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Regards

Pintcrusher

Sounds like the phone is on its last legs. Just get another cheap O2 or unlocked phone and put your SIM in it. If you need a new SIM you can get one free from O2 and they will move your number over to the new SIM.

You really do need a new sim after 12 years. I believe the capacity of the new sims are bigger than the old 2G sims.

Are all your contacts stored on the sim? If so, you will need to move them on the phone otherwise you will lose them doing a sim change. This could be the problem with the alert that the sim card is full.

Thanx for your reply. Looks as if I'll have to bite the bullet and get a new fone n SIM. This has been my "back-up" fone so it's failure to function hasn't been "way of life" threatening but it is the number I give out to non-family n friends. Now I'm off to find a cheap replacement 🙂 Regards

Thanx for your reply. I suppose I was being a bit optimistic thinking my SIM would last for ever 🙂 Now I'm off to find a new cheapo fone n SIM. Hopefully O2 will be able to t/f the old number fairly quickly. Regards
