‘Password validation by verifying the password on Blackberry Internet Service’

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello everyone,

For 6 weeks to date, I am having trouble with my BB (9360 device Pay as you go on O2): I cannot access my linked email account, because its ‘password is not verified’. When entered the correct password it is not recognised, e.g. message: your …@hotmail.co.uk password is invalid. Please try again’.

The handset is still under warranty; it has been sent to be repaired; collected today – still the same issue: cannot send & receive e-mails from it; I have no problems logging from my laptop into the same email account.

Sadly, I don’t know where else to turn…May I appeal to the O2 Community’s pool of knowledge, again, please?

Please advise.

Kind regards….

.

Thank you Toby - I agree, there are some fantastic suggestions from the O2 community, for which I'll be forever greatful...

unfortunately, regarding my working handset, I am still back to square one… and I might not find a solution…

Kindest regards

Once again thank you PapaDug, but unfortunately my phone is not allowing me to get past 'initialising application', 'connecting to email settings' and then 'your device had a problem connecting to the server'. I tried the above steps 10 minutes before posting this message.

Kind regards

Dearest PapaDug, your are definitively my new best friend!!! I just tried again and followed your link to 'security info page' on my laptop; indeed it took me to the Outlook sign in page and generated a code for me. Once inserted that code into my phone's password area, rather than my normal password, IT WORKED!!! HURRAY!!! Fingers cross, it will carry on working.... Many, many, thanks... slight_smile

Glad you got it sorted.

For future reference, should you change phones you will need that 'application specific' password again or you can disable that one and generate a new one.

The same procedure applies to Gmail with 2 factor authentication.
