Nokia - Windows Phone 7.8 *RELEASED*

Hey Guys,

Got some great news for all you Nokia fans out there! You all will be delighted to know that we’re currently testing and working closely with Nokia UK to unveil the Windows Phone 7.8 software update for Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 soon to ensure it delivers a superb user experience.

Once we have a green light for the roll-out, we’ll update this post and O2 customers will be available to download the update via Zune. Exciting times, right?! Meanwhile, I’m curious to know which particular feature from the latest version (7.8) are you guys waiting for?

Update 31/01/2013: WP 7.8 is live for Lumia 610, 710, 800, and 900 and WP 8 PR 1.1 for Lumia 820 (OTA).

What does the update include? For Lumia 610, 710 & 800 devices, it includes:

• New features to the Start Screen, new colors and lock screen improvements.
• WP 7.8 OS includes enablers for new apps such as Bluetooth Share and Ringtone Maker.

For Lumia 820 devices, improvements include:

• Increasing device performance
• Browser enhancements and new ringtone capability.
• Improvements to the general functionality of the phone including NFC pairing, battery monitor performance and bluetooth connectivity.

Microsoft, (not 02 or Nokia), is rolling out this 7.8 update throughout the month of February. 

You will have to wait untill it comes your way, or 'force' the update using the method in the previous pages..............:smileywink:

Hello im trying to update my nokia Lumia 800, but its not showing any updates is there a problem or do i have to wait for the update?

Several weeks have passed now and I'm getting frustrated at not getting the update. I probably will try the forced update, but I don't think I should have to! I'm hoping it might fix my problem with MS Exchange eMail - it will not download attachments, even though I can send the exact same eMail to my GMail or a POP3 account I have, and it downloads with no problem!

Nokia Lumia 800 - dissapointed with bugs, and lack of response from MS to fixing them. Beginning to wonder why I changed from my iPhone!

The update is only delivered via the Zune Software which is Microsoft.

I too have been frustrated by the length of time taken to get this update on my Lumia 800.

I came within microns of getting the force update to work but couldn't reconnect to the internet to finish the update process! Then could not get the force update trick to work no matter how many times I tried.

Did a bit of searching and found that there is now a util for performing the update here:

I've not long successfully completed the update using this tool (prompted to also download the windows phone update tool).  Took a while as it seems to comprise three updates which each need to be downloaded and installed so faster broadband will help speed things up.

Once it finished hooked up to windows 8 PC running zune which then prompted me there was an update and ran through the process again - seemed a bit quicker though!

Now I'm back up and running with the 7.8 version.

But be careful folks - DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK - as they say!!
