Lets start small,

Who is resposible for pushing the updte out to users

Microsoft

O2

Nokia

I for one am not even sure who's fault this fiasco is, would hate to be blaming the wrong party for what has to be the most shambolic software roll out ever.

TrickyDee, I think the point is that we have a relationship with O2, not Nokia or Microsoft. I for one paid O2 for the hardware, software and service.

So it may be Nokia's or Microsoft's problem ultimately, but it's O2's responsibility to act on our behalf in dealing with them and to keep us informed.

Who O2 choose to blame is up to them. Who WE blame is O2, plain and simple. I for one find the silence hard to forgive.

Ency, not defending anyone, just wondering where the hold up is.

You are quite correct in your blaming of O2 for the lack of information.

O2 if youre listening, we would mind the wait a lot less, if we new what on earth is going on, just keep us informed.

Nokia are stating that the latest update for lumia 610 o2 hansets is 1066.0000.8858.12470

so o2 are taking there time rolling out this update resource found at http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/lumia-software-update/availability-in-europe/

My nokia lumia 610 is currently running WP 7.5 version 1066.0.8779.12340 according to zune my phone is uptodate and i have tried the discount internet trick about 20 times to try and force update but no joy, Even tried this method sated here at XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054474 but for some strange reason the latest update is 1066.0.8779.12340 so it seems that version 1066.0000.8858.12470 has been took off there update servers too,

According to vodafone's website there was some issues with the first release of windows 7.8 and they put there's on hold, But it has now been fixed and All phones should have the update by 11 April 2013.

Resource http://support.vodafone.com.au/articles/FAQ/Nokia-Lumia-610-Product-Release-2-0-software-update so what are o2 doing about are update???

If you wish to try the update trick here is the info on how to do http://www.msdonkey.com/windows-phone/how-to-force-the-windows-phone-7-8-update/

Hope some of this information iv shared has helped slight_smile

If you have found these two YouTube guides:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyYDkCOGh2A

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ee_tKLYPnI

the latter being a little bit clearer, you will see they use two pieces of software for Nokia:

NaviFirm Plus and Nokia Care Suite Application Launcher.

The Nokia Care Suite gives good info on your phone model and spec and is needed to perform an update directly to your phone. However it needs the NaviFirm software to obtain the update.

If you do download the NaviFirm tool and select the Lumia 800 (RM-801) you need to get the latest update for 7.8. This is - 1750.823.8858.12460 - the 8858 bit being the critical number to look for.

I have done this and I can save you the bother of downloading all this if you're not curious by stating that although the 7.8 release (8858) is listed it has no upgrade components listed for any phone operator, never mind 02, so that means it's a Nokia problem not o2 as this list comes from an online Nokia server used by engineers.

My phone is on Release 1750.805.8773.12220 and variant 059N205 which is listed but it is way up the list in terms of releases

Nokia state Windows 7.8 is on release 1750.805.8773.12220:

http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/product/lumia800/

But that doesn't support 7.8, so someone in Nokia doesn't know what they are talking about.

If you follow the YouTube videos and succesfully download the NaviFirm tool and do get a list of components for the 8858 release i.e. v7.8, I suggest you do everyone a public service by downloading the files sticking them on SKyDrive or DropBox and let everyone download them without worrying about o2 or Nokia.

As ever if you want to get something done, do it yourself.
