I have just downloaded the new Nokia pc suite (7.1) which is supposed to work with the Lumia range of phones. When trying to connect my Lumia 625 I get the message that the phone is in the wrong usb mode and i need to change the settings? anyone any idea how to do this, i have tried various usb cables (incl one supplied) to no avail?

There does not seem to be a separate backup option for contacts in settings on my lumia 625?

I have however successfully used Outlook which has a separate tab for contacts (Sky Drive on the account does not have contacts within?) a 3rd party app will however  save contacts as a zip file., but that does not really help as editing options are limited.

My Hotmail account had to be set up on my lumia 625 (in addition to Oulook on my PC) from there everything fell into place, with full editing of contacts at last possible. Synchronising this Hotmail account (in settings) keeps email (if you have any) and contacts etc. synchronised.

NB I cannot believe there is not an easier way out of the box  to perform what was a simple task with Nokia Suite on my previous Nokia phone!!!. I eventually discovered a Microsoft article KB2844991 which gave me some clues.

I honestly thought PC suite was for symbian phones only?
For Lumia range I use this http://www.windowsphone.com/en-PH/how-to/wp8/windows-phone-app-for-desktop?signin=true

I've no experience of that myself tbh, anyways, your contacts are backed up online to Skydrive automatically.

To back this up: http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/product/nokia-pc-suite/

"Got a Nokia Lumia phone? You can’t use Nokia PC Suite, but you can sync music, videos, and pictures, and get the latest phone updates with the Zune PC app or the Windows Phone app, depending on your phone model. For more info, see your phone’s user guide, or go to www.windowsphone.com"

Apparently the solution is to open my Outlook Account (not Sky Drive) and contacts are shown under a separate tile (i.e. Mail, People, Calendar, Sky Drive) I can then update as necessary. The only problem I have is that a lot of my contacts are linked? and I have duplicates within Outlook, there does not seem to be a easy way to delete the duplicate you do not want (trial & error) I will keep on looking!

My contacts are in skydrive with an option to manage them from there, it's easy.

Just by selecting the back up option in phone settings then go to the link I gave you above to view and manage them.

How do you find them there? Not showing on my Skydrive account.

Mine are like Gahame25's under separate links within Outlook.

Running a Lumia1020 with Windows phone 8.

EDIT, just seen your last post.
