Just updated phone but when it restarted it came up as "sim card invalid". Switched off, took it out, replaced it and switched on but still invalid. Can't write on the O2 Guru's wall either!
Any ideas. Thanks

The problem seems to be related to the software update. The sim is not recognized afterwards. it's not anything to do with the contacts I don't think. Have tried taking sim and battery out but no difference. O2 are sending out a new sim but not confident that this is the problem - it seems too coincidental that it occurred right after the update.
Thanks anyway.

I agree that it seems unlikely to be the SIM but you have to try it to rule it out. A hard reset may be required. This will delete all info off the phone so back up your photos, videos etc first.
Step 1
Ensure that the handset is turned off by holding down the power button until your phone switches off.
Step 2
Press and hold the volume down key, and tap the power button briefly. Continue to hold the volume down key until you see a exclamation mark on the screen.
Step 3
Push the following keys in order:
Volume up
Volume down
Power
Volume down
Step 4
Your phone will reset itself to factory settings. Two cogs will be shown during this process, it may take some time to complete.
Your phone will restart and the interactive set-up process will begin, as if setting up a new phone.

Thanks for all the help. Tried a hard reset but still wouldn't work. In the end went to the O2 shop in Swansea where a nice young man fixed it with a new sim card. Phone more or less back to normal now after signing into microsoft account.
Once again, Thanks.
