Nokia Lumia 1020 Queries

Anonymous
Not applicable

With the rumours of a Telefonica Nokia Lumia 1020 coming (in 64gb I may add!) I am very interested… couple of questions

1: Will it be sold sim free (well, PAYG)?

2: If so would you be able to use a GiffGaff SIM in it?

Before everyone starts getting their hopes up, most of the tech forums state that Telefonica Europe called first dibs on the 64GB variant, no mention of Telefonica UK.

I would imagine as long as stock levels are high it will be available locked to O2 and on Pay & Go at some point.

As GiffGaff piggy-back O2 then again there should be no issue using one of their SIM cards, but chances are you will still need to buy the £10 O2 top up / SIM Card.

Hope this helps.

I think it's unlikely we will see the 64gb variant in the UK.

I work for O2 but my comments and opinions posted here are solely my own and do not reflect those of Telefonica.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I would've thought that Telefonica UK would just be a subsidiary of Telefonica Europe?

However it's linked up it operates and runs as a separate company.

Apparently is it coming...o2 have confirmed in a phone call with a customer that it's the 64GB version.

Why did you think it would be unlikely?

A list of Nokia Lumia 1020 Product Codes has been posted on WP Central's forums, which confirms O2 will offer the 64GB model of this devicee, and it looks like they may not have the 32GB version at all.

Euro GB O2 SL 64GB Black (059T1Z9)
Euro GB O2 SL 64GB Yellow (059T8G0)

Now all I'm waiting for is for pre-orders to go up.

I know O2 are heavily promoting Refresh, but I hope the 1020 isnt only going to be available on Refresh, but on standard contracts as well.

I'm due for upgrade (just waiting for the 1020), but not sure i want to be on Refresh

Do you understand how it works?

I'm waiting eagerly for the 1020, and 64GB of storage would be perfect for me, being a heavy photographer. Although I'm currently on Simplicity I got told I could upgrade 6 months down the line to a phone tariff, and I've just found the phone I'll get.

Looks like Thursday is Lumia 1020 launch day in the UK (confirmed by Nokia UK on Twitter).

Still no word from O2. Unless of course Thursday is not availability day, but rather the start of ordering...
