No email over wifi with Blackberry Curve

Anonymous

My Blackberry Curve is no longer sending or receiving email over wifi.

It has had the same problem on 4 networks (three of them outside the UK, one in the UK) in the past week.  At the moment, my only way of getting email when roaming is by paying the £2 a day fee. Any suggestions?

Do you have the BlackBerry Bolt-On as part of your account? You need the Bolt-On to use BIS Services even when connected over Wifi. You can check this in My O2.

You may need to resend service books to the phone. Do the following with your O2 SIM in the phone when not connected to Wifi:

When you're connected to Wifi abroad, you will be able to use the browser, twitter, etc even if you dont have a BIS connection (and yeah, I meant BlackBerry Internet Service slight_smile ). You know when you have a BIS connection when the small blackberry "dots" appear next to your network signal indicator.

You could also try turning off the Mobile Network to see if that will force things over the WiFi connection (but make sure you try everything above first!)

Hi!

I haven't heard of this happening for a couple of years...what operating system are you running? and which model of curve do you have?

It sounds like a problem connecting to BIS over Wifi but could be something else...are you in the UK or abroad just now?

Do you have a BlackBerry Bolt On on the accounts you have on each of the SIM cards?

Unless you have access to BIS via a blackberry bolt on you won't receive push email on your phone via Wifi or cellular network

Thanks for your reply.

It's a Blackberry 9360 Curve.

As far as operating system goes, I only have the software included in my contract with O2.

Assume that by BIS you mean Blackberry Internet Service?

Now that I am back in the UK, that shows 'Connection   Mobile Network'. When I was abroad, with data switched off when roaming, it showed 'Not connected'.

On previous trips abroad, I have been able to send and receive email over wifi. And I know my device was connected because the browser and Twitter both worked fine. This time the email just did not work, and I am even unable to send and receive over my own wifi network at home.

Very grateful any suggestions.

Thanks
