MMS on Nokia Lumia 710

I know there are a lot of threads about this marked as solved but none of those suggestions are working for me so now we have yet another one 😞

So here is my tale of woe:

Around 18 months ago I bought an unlocked Lumia 710 from Carphone Warehouse which came with a vodaphone SIM. Vodaphone coverage is useless in my area so I ordered a PAYG microsim from o2 and downloaded the Network Setup app and successfully switched over to o2. Everything works fine, calls, SMS, internet (away from wifi it is slow as hell but does work), etc. The only thing that does not work and never has is MMS messaging. I can neither send nor receive them.

If I receive a MMS message I get a notification in my message thread to "Get media content now", click on it and it changes to "getting media content ... ", then just goes back to "Get media content now". If sending it just refuses to send saying "Can't send message. Try again".

Firstly yes I definitely have credit. Secondly yes I definitely do have the Network Setup app installed. Yes my data connection is on and yes I have MMS acknowledgements turned off (how that helps I don't know but trying every suggestion) and yes I have the latest update for the Lumia 710.

I have tried the faffing about with selecting the wrong network then the right one and resetting the phone. Sending an MMS to myself, uninstalled then reinstalled the Network selection app god knows how many times, tried soft reset, hard reset, getting MMS settings direct from o2, thought about throwing the phone against the wall ...

I had pretty much given up on using MMS some time ago but I have an important MMS that is work related (I'm self-employed) that I really need to get. I have asked the sender to email it to me instead but frankly, when I have spent a reasonable sum of money on a supposed 'smart' phone I expect it to be able to do this simple thing!

Does anyone know of a permanent fix for this?

Going through the uninstall/reinstall Network Selection app, reset, select wrong then right network and sending MMS to myself used to work as a temporary fix but for some reason it does not seem to work anymore.

Any advice gratefully recieved ... up to and including - get something that isn't a windows phone!

Thanks.

Sounds like MMS is not provisioned correctly on your account.
Call 4445 to get it enabled. If they say it already is, ask them to delete it and re-provision it (takes 24 hours).

Hi MI5

Thank you for your suggestion ... I have done this many times, it never seems to make a difference 😞

Hi Rycal,

Unfortunately I dont have access to another phone with microsim to try it in, I suspect then the MMS would work as I seriously think this is an issue with the handset rather than o2 settings (judging by the amount of people from other networks who have posted this issue all over the interwebs).

As an update it is all a moot point now anyway as the phone fell off my sofa the day after posting this issue and is all smashed up. Still trying to figure out if I subconsciously left it there in a passive-agressive, deliberate sabotage attempt Smiley Surprised

APN settings are here http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/chapter/595-04-how-to-set-apn-settings-for-the-02-mobile-network...
and are you sure they have actually deleted MMS and re applied it 24 hours later ?
