Lumia 950 XL Options now that O2 are not supplying it.

Now that it's confirmed that O2 will not be supplying the Lumia 950 XL, I'm now looking at my options.

If I were to purchase a SIM Free Lumia 950 XL elsewhere would it be able to access all O2 features, like visual voicemail?

The same with purchasing from Carphone Warehouse on O2, will that support visual voicemail?

My final option, and most likely option, is to just leave O2 and go to a network that supports the new flagship XL phone.

Thanks

Yeah, I won't get VVM since I upgraded via CPW. But, now that MS has started to open up the bootloader to developers, it's only a matter of time before we get the likes of cyanogen time mods of the OS.

@Curr946 VVM is available on unlocked 950 and 950XL. You will find an option in the phone settings (it may require an update first so make sure you check for any updates)

If a Lumia 950 is purchased via CPW (i.e. not directly from O2) it will not have Visual Voicemail facilities since the phone isn't using a custom O2 firmware. Is that right?

No. VVM is part of the core OS now so will work on CPW phones.

Got my wife and myself 950XLs from CPW as upgrades from our O2 branded 1020s and absolutely have no regrets.
I tried toggling it on and got a message from O2 immediately telling me Visual Voicemail has been activated on these handsets. ☺

If the phones are unbranded then it would seem to be contrary to what we've been told...

Not for Win10 devices.

That is only applicable to 8.1 phones.
