Any windows experts have any idea why a laptop would literally take 30 minutes to boot up and then take another 30 minutes to respond to anything like opening explorer or internet browser etc.

It's a fairly new Acer, AMD Ryzen 5 and Radeon Graphics card.

Hi I have been using windows from xp to w10 now.
But no expert of course met about everything never encountered this. Can you go back to an earlier date? Just in case a download did something?

Do a scan with Malwarebyte and then use the windows tool to clean the cache. Maybe look at the windows storage clean of the C drive. If all that fails then I would reset the PC to factory settings and then set up as new. Ball ache but not much else you can do mate.

I'm attempting a reset now.
Couldn't run Malwarebytes and got bored waiting for disc check to start.
It's my daughter's laptop so gawd knows what's on there !

Well the reset did nothing so looks like it's a full rebuild!

Had my doubts about this being a software issue as it was literally too slow.
After waiting 24 hours for it to go through the motions of reloading windows it reported "No bootable device found" so it's a hardware issue and will be going back to PC World to be fixed or replaced.
