Laptop internal mouse - How do I disable it ?

I am loosing text when my wrist or clothing grazes over the laptop internal mouse

I should like to disable the mouse please

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

Jane, usually you need to Fn plus another key to toggle the mouse pad on and off. 

Googling your make of laptop should reveal the specific key presses for your machine.

Some laptops have a section you can double tap on.
I think on an old work one it was top left?
There is normally a dot that shows where it is...

I did a quick Google and got the answer Fn+F7. 

It will be Fn+ whichever F key has the touchpad symbol next to it.

Also, Settings >Devices >Touchpad and turn off there.
