GSM or 3G

Anonymous
Not applicable

My Asha 300 on O2 has the capability to use GSM, 3G or both.

I have ruled out using both as the phone "chats" all the time as it hunts for the best signal.

My phone is used mainly for calls, texts and occasional email checking.

What would be the best setting please ?

Mat

If you don't have high data demands just leave it on 2g. It will give you the best call and text coverage where ever you are. The only time you use 3g to the full is for downloading large files, videos etc...

If you are in a weak 3g area the GSM (2g) setting is best for you. It will be slower on data transfer but it won't effect you much for your usage pattern.

Thank you for the quick response.
If i select 3G only will it drop back to GSM if weak or no signal ?

I ask because i get a decent signal on 3G sometimse 3.5, but i guess i may move around the country where the signal strength varies.
