I installed the WP8.1 Update 1 DP on my Lumia 920 yesterday, and found after some brief messing about that the UK Cortana is a lot less chatty than the US one, but mileage may vary...

Marcus Ash stated on Twitter that the client bits rolled out quicker than the backend stuff so give it a while, she's very chatty for me.

It is a real shame that the Cortana we have will not be the same voice as that from the HALO games. I think thats for the americans only.

I'm not really that disappointed, I'm just happy that we have Cortana in the UK. From what I gather Cortana was supposed to have a British accent anyway.

I like the way it will pick up dates from messages and if you tap on the link it'll ask you if you want to add a reminder/calender item for it, found this out today totally by accident...

The forums over at WPCentral are full of hints and tips here.

It's quite fun just to ask random question and see what she/it comes back with. The beauty of it is you can ask in a completely natural way and most of the time Cortana seems to know what you mean.

I'm impressed but not blown away. I think this may be due to me not using it to its full potential.

I'm going to do a follow up review on the 635 with this update later this week.

It's certainly a nice tool to use. Takes me back to when Siri was first released by Apple.

Some nice Easter eggs and the obligatory asking of off the cuff questions. I once asked if it had children. Response was it was unable to...., yet.

Enjoy.

Have you set your inner circle and set up quiet hours yet?
