Well ...now after all that we have a completely different state of affairs wink

Within those parameters it is possible as @jonsie has said.... but you certainly should be going instore to choose the phone....(if you can get the one of your choice this near to Christmas)

Best of luck wink

I'm still confused.....
Which one of you (if either) has a contract phone and which is a PAYG?
PAYG does not involve a contract so you are free to walk into any store and buy a PAYG phone of your choice. Your partner would then just place their current sim card in the new phone and carry on with the same number and tariff as before.
The new sim card received with the PAYG phone could be kept as a spare or just disposed of.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Reading it again...and again ...Rich... I don't think EITHER have a contract phone? Rolleys

"No no he has no contract.what mean by upgrade is payg upgrade. If I cant do it under his then if I have already had done a payg upgrade on my phone can I still by another of the same phone and upgrade it under my name altho I did last upgrade a few months ago.is that allowed? X"

Hence my confusion, but, if it's just a straight PAYG purchase the answer is yes, as per my previous reply above.

But you can't "upgrade" his PAYG without him been there.

All you can do is buy a PAYG phone and give it to him to use his current sim card in.

Oh my word what's confusing on here is that u end up replying back to one and it creates confusion to all! I understand I cant do a payg upgrade in my boyfriends name, so then I asked if I had just upgraded my payg phone am I allowed to go through the payg upgrade again to get his? Even tho its the same phone and is it too early to upgrade as soon as I have? No contracts....nothing in his name...ignore the previous messages now do u all understand this?
