Blocked phone

Anonymous

Hi there,

here's my story: my SIM card was stolen so I called the O2 - they blocked it, I got a replacement card and since then I use it. BUT my phone is blocked since then. There's a message on the screen saying 'SIM card registration failed' and there's no signal neither. I tried more than 1 SIM card of different providers so it's about the phone. With my friend's SIM (Virgin) showed signal but as soon as he wanted to make a call he wasn't able to do that as there was a message that call is blocked or something like that.

1) Is that possible that when I told the O2 that my SIM card has disappeared they blocked my phone, too?

2) If so, how is that possible? Because I have been using a Pay & Go SIM and didn't buy my phone from O2. It is (I mean was as it's not working at the moment) an unlocked phone that I bought abroad.

Please can anyone help me with this? Can my phone unblocked again? Or what can I do?

Thanks Adel

Sounds like they blocked the IMEI of the phone when you reported the loss of the sim card. It can be unblocked but you need to speak to customer service.

Thank you for your help. But I wonder how did they know my IMEI as I never told them and I bought this phone months before I got my O2 SIM card... Strange. But thanks anyway

The IMEI will automatically register on their system and they always know what phone your simcard is being used in.

Give them a call in the morning and they should be able to sort it for you.

How did you manage to lose the sim and not the phone?

That's probably what the customer service adviser thought and presumed the phone was lost too.
