Blackberry Q10 deleting emails

Anonymous
Not applicable

I picked up my Q10 yesterday morning and noticed it had deleted all my emails from the previous 30 days for no apparent reason.  To make things worse when I accessed my email accounts via webmail from my PC they had all been deleted from the mail server too.

I've looked on the Blackberry support forums and noticed a number of other people have had a similar issue, but nothing on there explaining why its happening.

Thankfully for the gmail accounts I can still get at them in the ALL MAIL folder, but on other webmail services they have gone completely.  Not happy !!

Thanks for looking.  Will there be a formal announcement of when O2 will release the latest OS for BB10 ?

Don't bank on it! We've had an announcement for one of the updates I think but not the others.

Just keep an eye on here, I'm sure some of us Z10 owners will be quick to let everyone else know that the update is available!

I've been having a look around and I still think its possible that you have "deleted all prior". I know you said you havent but if you're not familiar with the phone or the OS, its very easily done.

If you press and hold the first message in the hub, the overflow menu appears in the right, with a trash can at the bottom. If you press the icon it will delete your message.

Let's say you want to delete that top message, but press slightly higher where the date is displayed (not unlikely to happen, it is pretty close). The overflow menu will appear, with the same trash can icon at the bottom. Except that now, the action of the icon is "Delete all prior messages". Scary isn't it?

Given that it deleted all messages within the retention time frame of the BB10 OS (30 days), it seems that this could have happened.

Had you deleted any messages or notifications from the Hub before this happened? Are any other notifications still in the hub?
