BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G Battery issue

Hi all, started having trouble yesterday with the phone not charging, but it would turn on. Then a red line appeared round the small battery icon in the top right hand corner. Then it switched off, would not switch back on again. Today it will still not switch on, but whilst charger is plugged in, the screen is showing a white outline battery with a red cross through it. I've tried taking the battery out, cleaning it, leaving it out for a while, putting battery in whilst plugged into charge and also not! I tried the online chat yesterday, but it was worse than useless. The guy said I needed to turn it on & wipe the memory & that would solve my problem. ok..so what part of "the phone won't turn on, don't you understand??" I've had the phone since March, but have hardly used it. Any ideas?

With the red indicator showing It sounds like your battery is shot.

Have you a spare battery or a friends to use to test your phone.

The red line means the battery is too empty to continue powering the phone. Do you know anyone with a working 9300 who can charge the battery and or try to charge their battery in your phone. That should tell you whether the battery is u/s or the charging circuit in the phone/charger.
