My wife bought this phone for its keypad and speed dial keys to assign for family and friends.
The O2 sim has locked 9 keys for its own use as sevice numbers, I own a BB and have been using it for 3 years so do know a bit about them, her locked keys cannot be deleted nor moved.
On selecting an O2 speed key there is no option for 'edit' as there is for the user entered speed keys, a reset with sim removed gets rid of them, after inserting the sim again and a re-boot the locked O2 speed keys re-appear.
Deleting them from the 'contacts' has no effect, nor does deleting 'sim contacts'.
Been to O2 shop, O2 customer services, worn out 3 O2 guru techies, still no solution.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Oh yes, thanks for all the ideas, must be a way somehow - does any one from O2 ever visit this forum?
I think they are too busy withtheir day jobs
It's not designed to be an official tech support forum... It's just customers helping out other customes (Free (and generally more accurate) customer service)
I'm not familiar with BB's so not sure if you can edit the SIM on one but you might be able to if you put the SIM in a Nokia, Sony Ericsson or some other older phone that always used to allow you to write into the protected areas on the SIM.

Thanks for that and yes I have an old Sony/E that the sim came from so will give it a try.

Put the sim in a Sony/E, went to the appropiate menu and deleted all the O2 entries.
Re-booted the BB without the sim and there were no O2 entries, put sim back, booted up and they were back just as before locked and loaded.
Sorry if my word offended, it was just meant to stimulate an O2 reply, my apologies.

You can call them what you like, as long as it's not personal
The only way you're gonna get an official O2 response is to contact CS and ask for it to be passed to tech support for investigation. If this is an old SIM you could possibly try getting a new one and seeing if it does the same.....?

Sounds like this is all written into the O2 bloatware on the phone. Apart from trying a new sim in the phone I'm not sure what you can do about the problem.

New simless phone, O2 shop put in new sim, and as I said before with the sim out there is no problem, even tried factory reset then put sim in and after booting up they were back.

Finally found the answer to this by asking my Grandaughter - the O2 sim for PAYG has these numbers embedded into the software, so say to help the customer, though more likely to extract more cash from them.
On the BB's they lock up the 9 speed dial keys and there is nothing anyone can do to delete or move them, it does not happen on O2 contract sims.
So after many hours chat/texting four O2 guru's, phoning O2 customer services and even visiting an O2 shop NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN THE SIMPLE REASON THAT IT WAS EMBEDDED INTO O2 PAYG SIM'S.
What a useless bunch they are, now where did I see that Vodaphone shop?
Oh yes, and thanks for all the replies I received.
