My wife bought this phone for its keypad and speed dial keys to assign for family and friends.
The O2 sim has locked 9 keys for its own use as sevice numbers, I own a BB and have been using it for 3 years so do know a bit about them, her locked keys cannot be deleted nor moved.
On selecting an O2 speed key there is no option for 'edit' as there is for the user entered speed keys, a reset with sim removed gets rid of them, after inserting the sim again and a re-boot the locked O2 speed keys re-appear.
Deleting them from the 'contacts' has no effect, nor does deleting 'sim contacts'.
Been to O2 shop, O2 customer services, worn out 3 O2 guru techies, still no solution.

Finally found the answer to this by asking my Grandaughter - the O2 sim for PAYG has these numbers embedded into the software, so say to help the customer, though more likely to extract more cash from them.
On the BB's they lock up the 9 speed dial keys and there is nothing anyone can do to delete or move them, it does not happen on O2 contract sims.
So after many hours chat/texting four O2 guru's, phoning O2 customer services and even visiting an O2 shop NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN THE SIMPLE REASON THAT IT WAS EMBEDDED INTO O2 PAYG SIM'S.
What a useless bunch they are, now where did I see that Vodaphone shop?
Oh yes, and thanks for all the replies I received.

I dont think its the firmware, I think its the SIM as I have heard of this type of thing happening before. plus if they dont appear until you insert the SIM then it kinda points to it being the SIM.
I'm sure the only preset speed dial that I know of on Blackberry is "1" which is always Voicemail.
Its weird why they would only do this for PAYG customers though...

Just had a thought as well...I'm not sure about the 9320, but you should be able to assign speed dial letters as well as numbers!
Opens up a whole new world of possibilities haha!

Thanks for all the replies, this is though a sim free phone and without the sim inserted there are no O2 speed dial keys, fit in the sim and there they all are locked solid.
I can understand them being in the contacts list (now deleted) but why do they take over speed dialing?
O2 take 9 keys, BB take A for key pad lock, Q for vibrate only and W for voice mail. A total of 12 speed dial keys lost!
Ok on the BB keys, I know about them, but having O2 hijack another 9 is too much, so come on O2 - EXPLAIN

Yes it does, I tried to put in friends and family for my wife on the speed keys and on inserting the sim the relavent keys were over written with O2 services.

Have had a thought about it, is there any way to delete the sim O2 contacts as this seems to be the problem. Have tried myself but they just came back!
Any one know how to do this?
Oh yes, thanks for all the ideas, must be a way somehow - does any one from O2 ever visit this forum?

I think they are too busy withtheir day jobs
It's not designed to be an official tech support forum... It's just customers helping out other customes (Free (and generally more accurate) customer service)
I'm not familiar with BB's so not sure if you can edit the SIM on one but you might be able to if you put the SIM in a Nokia, Sony Ericsson or some other older phone that always used to allow you to write into the protected areas on the SIM.
