Amber Update 8018830f Error Code Lumia 720

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just checking if anybody has received this update error.

I manually checked for phone updates earlier today on my Lumia 720.

The phone started to download and install an update but did not give any idea as to what the update was.

The update was downloaded and began to install and after reaching approximately 15% or so it went quickly to 100% and displayed error code 8018830f with a message saying that it could not be opened!

After checking various websites it seems that this error is widespread and related to the Amber/GDR2 update and firmware version.

According to the Nokia update schedule page(http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-europe/), the Amber/GDR2 update has not been released for the Lumia 720 on O2 in the UK, so I am a little unsure as to what the update actually is!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Phone details as follows:

Nokia Lumia 720 (O2)

OS version: 8.0.10211.204

Firmware revision number: 1030.6409.1311.0003

*******  UPDATE  *******

Tried the update again this evening and it has installed correctly.

Now updated to Amber.

Many thanks for the replies.

Try this:

  1. install Lumia Updates from Store;
  2. update and/or install:  AccessoriesAccesspointAudioDisplay + TouchExtras + InfoFeedback to NokiaNetwork+Nokia Account and  Storage Check (I think only this one is needed);
  3. go to settings > storage check (not phone storage) > slide to page 2 (Details) > Temporary Files(mine had about 130 megs, probably from the failed downloaded firmware) > Clear (now you should have around 6 megs);
  4. go to settings > phone updates > check for updates > follow the on-screen instructions > in about 30 minutes it should finish.

Many thanks for your reply.

I went through the process you mentioned but no joy!

Will keep trying to install the update and possibly contact Nokia if not successful.

Thanks for the tips - I followed your advice and the phone updated. It might be a good idea to post this solution on Nokia's forum!
