There are ways if you are comfortable with sideloading the app but you do this at your own risk.

Using the Android app was something recommended for the last Firephone user who complained about the same thing I think...?

I've side loaded a few things into my phone, none of them have adversely affected functionality or compromised security..
A few apps from the official play store have however glitched out my phone, ironic really!!
