I totally agree guys you have a responsibility when owning pets and it's an ongoing cost. Given my past experience with a very sick cat I couldn't recommend pet insurance enough!

@gmarkj I hope the little moggy's feeling better soon.

He is much better in himself @Martin-O2, even if he has more of an attitude now.
Only problem is that the clot problem is linked to a heart murmur he has had for a while/since birth and is not going to get better.
We are hoping that medication will help keep him going for a while but have to see how he goes. They are going to be 11 in Sep/Oct so are no longer kittens!

Re Pet insurance @Martin-O2....always make sure you get 'lifetime cover' at the outset. this means whatever your pet may suffer from in later years you insurance will cover it and continue to pay out. Even if its the same thing you are claiming for ...

@gmarkj One of mine has a slight heart murmur. I think it's fairly common in cats.

@Cleoriff Yes good tip! That's the cover I went for. That way they cover any ongoing conditions as well as the big unexpected stuff.

Bit more expensive but well worth it in the long run @Martin-O2

Absolutely agree @Cleoriff One or two health issues throughout the lifetime can end up massively expensive so it's well worth the monthly premiums.

Ours is a like a lifetime, but covers up to 7.5k per illness.

@gmarkj I have a similar policy. Get 7 grand per incident of sickness plus lifetime cover for things like diabetes. Can't name the company publicly but had to use it before and they were great. Arranged payment direct to the vets with no questions asked. slight_smile

Yeah, they have been good in both cases.
Paid the vets direct, the most recent time I just had to let them know who the vets were and give the vets the policy number!
Only problem is the excess - 75 + 10% of claim. Can get expensive...
