BT has bowed to demands by the telecoms regulator Ofcom to legally separate Openreach, which runs the UK's broadband infrastructure.

Just watched the TV report of this. A lot of criticism re the separation not being truly separate!

BT chief executive Gavin Patterson said the deal, reached after two years of negotiations with Ofcom, meant Openreach would have its own board and make its own investment decisions. However, he admitted that BT would set the overall budget.

With that in mind, it 'appears' that Openreach could still favour BT cutomers?

Nah, they will have their own shareholders to keep happy now.

Well as a BT customer...phone and broadband....I will be watching carefully...

Looking into the background, nowt will change as the bosses of Openreach will still be accountable to BT
