I have had whatsapp on my phone for ages now and it sometimes plays up but today i have just recieved my messages from over 4 hours ago!My wifi and my signal is ok,i have checked my signal on o2 service status and i'm near my router for the interent.Could it be the other person's phone? asin their wifi/signal down?

Could just be the whatsapp servers on a go slow. It took a while for me to receive one earlier but it seems OK now.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
