Hi Everyone,
Great news for Astronomy fans and star gazers out there, the largest supermoon in nearly 70 years will grace our skies on Monday 14 November! A supermoon occurs when the full moon occurs with the Moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit and is aligned with the sun. This gives the full Moon a much larger and brighter appearance.
Monday's supermoon is unique as the Moon will be the closest to Earth it’s been since January 1948 and it wont get this close again until 2034!
British weather permitting we should get a good look at this event. Will anyone else be taking a look?

Well why not have a good old camera shootout on the spot to find the best camera I have at hand..
OK so.
Xperia X
Lacks detail and was difficult to focus on the central point without putting metering off a few points.
Xperia XZ
Far easier to focus and maintain position because of its 5 axis stabilisation. and produced a clear shot even at 8x zoom.
Thankfully the colour stayed correct, probably due to the RGB sensor.
Galaxy S6 edge.
The easiest by far to keep in the viewfinder thanks to its optical stability but on clicking to take the picture, the optical stabilisation still allowed the camera to jolt a little at 8x zoom so the end product was a little distorted.
Unfortunately I can't be bothered to pull out the telescope for a super moon as it kinda is always super sized through the scope anyway so look in my gallery and I think ones there.
Anyhoo, all shots taken on max resolution at max zoom with hdr off and metering at spot or centre weighted.
Winner is, clearly Xperia XZ.

Some great photos guys. It was completely overcast where I was so couldn't see a thing. I suppose I'll have to wait for 2034 to catch the next one
