iPad controlled street lights

I just saw this. Anyone else thinking this is a bit overkill for what they hope to achieve? How long before a bug in a iOS update means no street lights haha.

but how will they find which lights aren't working......... oh yeah, Google Maps.......... haha Smiley LOL
