It might well be possible to show your kiddies "Santa's sleigh" on Xmas eve if the skies are clear enough.
The international space station will cross the uk (as it regularly does, if you haven't seen it it really is an amazing sight) at 2 times with 5:24 being brightest.

I will definitely be taking them outside before bedtime.
I fully recommend everyone takes the time one day at night to put out a chair in the garden, turn your lights off and just look UP.
The amount of space traffic there is is truly an amazing and awe inspiring sight, as the long set sun still reflects off the aluminium bodies or solar arrays of all our satellites. Humanity has advanced so much.

If you search for International  Space Station on Google you can get direct alerts when the space station is due over your area, the time and direction too.

I've seen it 7 times over the last 2 years, twice in Thailand.

The best ones are iridium flares, no word of a lie, I once had someone believing that the flashes of light were....

...Google earth's satellites taking photos with the flash on cuz it was dark.
