I did read about the awful fire. It was heartbreaking when I read the eye witness reports and saw the aftermath of the fire. A terrible tragedy and it's no wonder that most of the civilised world has banned those lanterns. I think it's only the Chinese who still think they are a good idea.
Terrible news and heartbreaking to learn of the death of the animals.

They would have been locked in for the night with no means of escape. What a terrible tragic way to die.
It also brings to mind all the deaths of the wildlife in Australia, due to the raging forest fires. Also tragic and so upsetting.

It's heart-rending
I've seen a vid of a trained dog in Australia who can search and find koala bears under the dead leaves. It has protective clothing on it's paws and legs. It senses a koala then signals to its handler by 'flopping still'.
