Not one of my favourite 'sports' but watched him on various chat shows and he seemed a nice chap.

When wrestling was on every Saturday afternoon, my mum was glued to TV. She never accepted that it was rigged for the show, no matter how many times Dad and I told her.

RIP Hulk ❤️

You bought enjoyment to many

@Cleoriff

In the days of World of Sport (presented by Dickie Davies) and professional wrestling at 4.00pm, it was notable that wrestling was the only "sport" that the bookies would not take bets on !

It was more theatre than sport. 👍

The hypocrisy of WWE knows no bounds, a few years back, Hogan was outed as a racist, so WWE tried to give him the Chris Benoit treatment, ie erase him from history, including removing him from the Hall of Fame, it's only fairly recently that he's back in the HOF.

@Cleoriff And 40 odd years later, some online betting sites do now take bets on certain wrestling matches, particularly during Wrestle Mania season.

Oh I know @Oxonian

It just made Dad and I laugh at Mum's reaction to anyone who dare say it was a fix.

While it was on we all knew not to visit. No-one was welcome!  😂🤣

Did you see the reboot of World of Sport? Presented by WWE's Wade Barrett? On ITV a few years back?

Not a patch on the old ones, which I used to watch myself.

I remember when Kendo Nagasaki, who was arguably the English answer to the Undertaker, got unmasked as a bloke called Tony from Stoke on Trent.

The low budget venues were a noted feature of the World of Sport coverage. I distinctly remember :-

Fairfield Halls, Croydon:

Corn Exchange, Melton Mowbray

Town Hall, Watford

Civic Hall, Wolverhampton.

There were others ! 👍
