Who doesn't like a cunning linguist?

The late Ronnie Barker was very good at it. Not sure how well such tongue-in-cheek tomfoolery would have gone down today, but in its time, it was bound to keep you glued to the box:

Thank you, @Cleoriff, I shall peruse some of his YouTube material over the next couple of days - super info!

PS, another comedian I like is Jasper Carrott, but he goes back a bit now too.

I like Jasper Carrott. We saw him last year when he did something different.

Jasper Carrott: Stand up and Rock.

He did his stand up routine and then was joined on stage with Bev Bevan (The Move and ELO) and his band.

Absolutely brilliant. Jasper is a damn fine musician as well.

I love Jasper, used to have a couple of LPs of his from the 70s. Funky Moped and Magic Roundabout are classics.

Definitely multi-talented, with his guitar. I remember him having Loudon Wainwright III as a guest on his show one time - sometimes you wonder why a main act chooses his guest act...!

Speaking of musical acts, Richard Digance had a mean guitar act too.

Hi everyone.

The Two Ronnies were brilliant in my opinion. I saw them in London doing the famous "Four Candles" sketch.

Jasper Carrott was hilarious. He got on Top Of The Pops in a white suit singing Funky Moped, although the real reason everyone bought the record was his very naughty version of the Magic Roundabout on the B side.

To be honest, most modern comedians bore me except Peter Kay. I love all his live stuff (I`ve got the DVDs and his books), loved Phoenix Nights, and thought Car Share was pure genius. @jonsie  Did you ever meet his Uncle Knib`ed? LOL
