Welcome to the Word Hunt Diamond - Game 82

The game is open to all members.

Each week, a grid of nine letters in a diamond will be posted.

The aim of the game is to find the target number of words [as in the source used for the game] using only the letters in the grid.

This week`s "diamond" is as follows:

                                                                                       E

                                                                                   I       O

                                                                               C     H     L

                                                                                   P     R

                                                                                       T

This week`s target is 77 words - using only the letters in the diamond - including one 9-letter word.

I will be giving awards to players

star star  - to the player who finds the nine-letter word

trophy trophy - to the player who finds the last word in the list in the source used for the game

dog diamond dog - to the player who finds the most words not in the list before the end of the game.

The rules:

Each word must contain four letters or more and must include the red letter H.

No proper names are allowed.

Scottish words and American spellings are allowed.

Each letter in the grid can only be used once in each word [for example, HELL isn`t allowed]

Of course, words do not have to start with the red letter H

Only one word per post.

Please wait until someone else has posted before posting again.

PLEASE NOTE: I will have to STOP the game periodically so I can give updates of words found. Please be patient and wait whilst this is being done and hope it does not cause too much delay or disruption to the game.

The Word Hunt Diamond game is open to all members.

I hope the Diamond Dogs of Words [thanks @pgn for the term] - those who have played in previous

Word Hunt Diamond games - including

 @Cleoriff  @Anonymous  @pgn  @BobM  @Bambino  @gmarkj  @TallTrees  @RafaC  @MI5  @Projectionist

 @lewys-gp  @jonsie

any member who has not played before or has not played for a while; and any new member will join in and play today`s WHD.

Can you, between you, not only find the 77 words in the list [in the source used for this game], and the

nine-letter word in this WHD game, but also find additional words not in the list ?

Good luck everyone and have fun...

Oops, overshot again lol!

Great game, as ever - but PLETHORIC eluded me at the start.

Good practice for the reinstated local Tues pub quiz - I got both 9-letter anagrams in an instant last week (round 3 and round 7 begin with an anagram).

Well done all, and thank you for collating answers, not easy in the hip-hop hopscotch way the Forum shuttles things around, @Mi-Amigo.

And with GMT here and EDT on US East coast this week, @Bambino got a better look-in, which is nice too - not often that happens.👍

Thank you @Bambino @BobM @pgn @Cleoriff

I`m pleased, possibly with the clocks changing here, that @Bambino got a chance to join in.

Well done on a great team effort with some very obscure words in the list this week and you wordsmiths still managed to find an incredible number of words not in the list.

As long as everyone enjoyed the game is the most important thing.

Clocks go back here this weekend, so will probably miss most of the game next week if it goes too fast. Can't be helped, I guess.

I forgot that more southerly states do not follow DST - some places avoid the whole backwards/forwards shenanigans 👍

We can always slow down the pace if it helps - or look for words with 90+ answers 🤣

Although it is possible for me to find a game with a target of 90+ words in the list, I`m not sure how many would appreciate or want a game which could well run late into the evening or even be picked up again the next morning 😂

But seriously, if our regular wordsmiths and usual Diamond Dogs of Words - including

 @Cleoriff @pgn @Bambino @gmarkj @BobM @TallTrees @Anonymous @RafaC

would like a bigger target, then please let me know [please pm me - marked WHD], and I`ll bear the idea in mind, depending on what the feedback is.

Yes, I seem to remember some longer WHDs dragged on a bit, now you mention it - fine for the late-comers, but not so fine for the Dictionary Master lol!

Perhaps best left as-is, and if it runs late, then those who only get to check around lunchtime can get a couple of swipes at it, @Mi-Amigo - unless your PMs show a craving for saga-length (the long story, not the holiday firm!) WHDs now and then 😎🤣

The pauses while answers are collated give participants time to step away and make a cuppa and grab a biccie - hopefully the DM (dictionary master) gets a well-earned break then too lol!

@Mi-Amigo I really don't think that slowing the game down or changing the way you've been running it just for my benefit is an option. I think it would inconvenience too many people. If the game is slow because people are struggling to find the words, that's fine, but to alter the premise of the game isn't a good idea, in my opinion. Keep it as it is. If I'm up in time I'm happy to take part, but I don't want things changed because of me.

And FYI @pgn, only two states don't change their clocks. Hawaii and Arizona, although the Navajo Nation within Arizona does observe the clock changes. Work that one out!

I agree @Bambino. With the forum layout now @Mi-Amigo has more difficulty keeping track of the words. As people (not me) have other commitments they pop in and out of the game when they are able. Sometimes we have long gaps when no-one posts for ages. It would be unfair to run a game which could run over to the following day. I'm sure our quizmaster has other things to do. (Like sort out the answers for one WRQ and post the answers for Monday and then post the Weds edition of the WRQ) No reason to change a thing.

All to do with their belief of living in harmony with Mother Earth and Father Sky, perhaps?

Interesting, Hawaii I could see, but Arizona yet not Texas?

Never mind some of the territories, like Puerto Rico, Samoa, Guam and US Virgin Islands, which are pretty definitely equatorial - Texas lies even lower than Arizona.

Time - an illusion, especially lunch time lol!
