Anyone hunting the Lynx down should be hunted down themselves! 6 days now so release a mate into the wild and let these beautiful creatures breed....

I know what you are saying but an animals natural instincts are inborn whether bred in captivity or in their natural habit. I'm guessing you have never hunted or fished but stick you on a desert island and the basic human instinct that derive back to early man would kick in.

I struggle with zoos personally too like you @jonsie. @Bambino's point is a valid one however. Safari Parks and Nature Reserves seem to have a good balance of animal freedom and strong conservation efforts and techniques. I hope they find this Lynx and get it back to its mother!

No I have never hunted. I have however watched enough wildlife programmes to know that man is destroying the habitat of all our animals. I also know if it wasn't for Big Cat, Elephant, Rhino (and other) conservation programmes and sanctuaries we would have lost many of these beautiful animals. So until we educate people then I say they should be protected as much as possible.

Agreed. I hate hunting with a passion..and as long as there are well run, legitimate sanctuaries to save some of them, then I'm all for it. I really hope the Lynx will be safe. Hadn't read this story 😞 x

Flaviu the lynx has now been recaptured after walking into a humane trap. Dartmoor zoo staff followed a trail of four dead lambs onto farmland.......He spent 3 weeks on the run. Apparently he is back in the zoo.....looking well but 'very grumpy' staff say...

Glad he's been humanely caught & brought back to the zoo who the article says are now looking for a mate for him = great! ![]()
Like it that he is now in the cheetah enclosure whilst his own is being 'beefed up'
thank you for keeping us informed @Cleoriff
I'd been wondering what had happened to him
Scary that the article states that hunters had been coming to Dartmoor to try to shoot the creature for trophy = sickening people

Yes Jane...the trophy hunter part was sickening. At least he is now safe and hopefully can find a mate and breed.....:smileywink:

That's a relief. So much for them saying he couldn't look after himself....
