Cheers for the update @Cleoriff and sorry to hear of your heating woes @Mi-Amigo!
Friends of ours had their boiler go a couple of weeks ago before it started getting really cold, and have borrowed lots of portable heaters until their plumber can get to them.
Unfortunately they need to replace it (it's a back boiler, behind their fireplace) so they decided to also upgrade all their pipes and radiators too!! So not only no heating but also lots of carpet/planks/flooring up and mess everywhere...

Due to @Mi-Amigo living in rented property, he is at their mercy really. He rang as soon as the heating went off a couple of days ago and they said they would text the engineer. By 6pm he hadn't been in touch, so @Mi-Amigo phoned the engineer who hadn't even read the text! When he rocked up yesterday, he said certain parts needed changing and he wouldn't be able to get them until this afternoon. No joke at all.

I`m back.
Thank you @Cleoriff for your phone call and for posting the message on the thread and for your advice.
Thank you @Cleoriff @RafaC @pgn @TallTrees @BobM @Martin-O2 @lewys-gp @Cleoriff for your kind words, much appreciated.
Cleoriff has explained the situation. I have been trying to keep warm by going to bed and drinking hot drinks. I got up for when carers came. To be honest, carers and the private letting agent have done what they could to help me. With being in my 70s, my health condition, I worried about risk at risk of hyperthermia, pneumonia, or flu, and admit I did get upset, annoyed, and had times of self-pity.
The good news is the heating engineer turned up about an hour ago, replaced the switch, rewired it to the boiler, fired the boiler up and waited and then checked all the radiators to make sure everything is working. It is and now have heat and house is warming up nicely.
I will reply to the WRQ posts, give the answers, results and awards shortly.
Thank you each and everyone of you.
