There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

Each White Room Quiz will have eight questions - with two questions from four categories. 

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

Those wishing to take part must pm me - @Mi-Amigo - with their answers between 12 noon today [Wednesday] and 11.59pm tomorrow [Thursday]

Today`s WRQ questions are two questions from each of these cateories

Q4 [GAMES - 1] Which indoor game was invented by British Army officers in India in 1875?

 

Q5 [HISTORY - 2] In which war was the Battle of Jutland? 

 

Q6 [GEOGRAPHY - 2] Which strait links San Francisco Bay and the Pacific?

 

Q7 [SPACE - 2] The main asteroid belt in our solar system is between which two planets?

                          [correctly name both for a star; half star awarded for one correct] 

 

Q8 [GAMES - 2] How many "tricks" make up a Grand Slam in the card game Bridge?  

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members of the Community.

 

Those who want to take part must pm [private message] me [Mi-Amigo] with their answers between 12 noon today [Wed 24 June] and 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Thursday 25 June]

- allowing 36 hours to pm your answers.

 

Please do not post your answers on the thread.

 

The answers - and results for each player taking part - will be posted on morning of Fri 26 June.

 

Each member will be awarded star for each correct answer. In addition, each member who gives

 

              EIGHT correct answers               SIX correct answers                     FOUR correct answers

                                                                THE RULES

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 12 noon today [Wed 24 June 2020] and before 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Thurs 25 June 2020].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 23.59 [11.59pm] on Thursday 25 June will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers.

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

New members, who have recently joined the Community, and members who have not taken part before, and any, or all, of the O2 Gurus - @O2Karl  @O2Jenny  @O2Abigail ? - are welcome to join the "regulars" with this week`s quiz. 

 

Please feel free to post any comments on the questions - but not the answers - on this thread.

If you have any questions about the quiz, please ask and I will reply here.

A1:  William II   

      

Q2 [GEOGRAPHY - 1]  In which continent is the Gobi Desert?

A2:  Asia

 

Q3 [SPACE - 1] Ganymede is a moon of which planet in our solar system?

A3:  Jupiter

 

Q4 [GAMES - 1] Which indoor game was invented by British Army officers in India in 1875?

A4:  snooker. But two quizzers both pm`d "badmington". On checking, poona was invented by British

        Army officers in India around that time and introduced to Britain by Duke of Bedford at his home

        in Badmington, hense the name. So I will also allow Badmington as a correct answer 

 

Q5 [HISTORY - 2] In which war was the Battle of Jutland? 

A5:  World War I

 

Q6 [GEOGRAPHY - 2] Which strait links San Francisco Bay and the Pacific?

A6:  Golden Gate

 

Q7 [SPACE - 2] The main asteroid belt in our solar system is between which two planets?

                          [correctly name both for a star; half star awarded for one correct] 

A7:  Mars and Jupiter.

        OK this was naughty of me - for the first time, two questions [Q3 and Q7] had the same answer,

        which caught some of you out
