There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

Today`s White Room Quiz is part of the ☀️🌴 Summer on the O2 community 🌴☀️

Instead of the usual eight questions - with two questions from four categories - there will be 12 questions - with one question from each of these categories

 HISTORY  PLACES  NATURE  SPACE  LITERATURE  MUSIC  ART  MOVIES  TV  SPORT  EVENTS

and one ODD question on SAYINGS

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

Those wishing to take part must pm me - @Mi-Amigo - with their answers between 12 noon today [Monday] and 11.59pm tomorrow [Tuesday]

To tie-in with "the Summer in the O2 Community", the questions, in some way, relate to "summer;

but no question is a QI-style question, in which the answer is not what most people think.

Q7 [ART]  Which British painter painted "Summer Evening" - field with cows and trees - in 1811/12  ? 

 

Q8 [MOVIES]   What was the name of the character played by Cliff Richard in the 1963 movie "Summer Holiday" ?

 

Q9 [TV]  Who played the character Norman Clegg in the TV comedy "Last of the Summer Wine" ?

 

Q10 [SPORT] Who won the Gold Medal in the Men`s 800 metres in the 1980 Summer Olympics ?

 

Q11 [EVENTS] In which English county is the World Gravy Wrestling Championship held each summer ?

 

Q12 [ODD - SAYING] What word is missing from this well-known saying

                                    "one ------- does not a summer make" ?

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members of the Community.

 

Those who want to take part must pm [private message] me [Mi-Amigo] with their answers between 12 noon today [Mon 31 August] and 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tuesday 01 September]

- allowing 36 hours to pm your answers.

 

Please do not post your answers on the thread.

 

The answers - and results for each player taking part - will be posted on morning of Wed 02 Sept.

 

                                         

                                                                THE RULES

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 12 noon today [Mon 31 August 2020] and before 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tues 01 September 2020].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 23.59 [11.59pm] on Tuesday 01 September will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers.

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

New members, who have recently joined the Community, and members who have not taken part before, are welcome to join the "regulars" and take part in this quiz. 

 

Each correct answer given by each member will be awarded a star .

 

In addition, the following trophies will be awarded for

Well I honestly didn't expect that!! I really though I had messed up the Mars one.

1) Old Age

2) Attended many many many pub quizzes

3) Husband used to devise quizzes for bars in Spain, and does them now for various clubs, pubs and charities. He tests them on me.

Congrats on Diamond Thinker...

The Mars question was one of the trickier ones. According to NASA, the specific number of days is 178, but astronomy sources show the summer can vary between 170 and 180 days so accepted that.

@jonsie's answer made me smile too, and also remember a delightful lass from my student days in some of my classes who was called Theresa Green... I kid you not.

I was also pals with a lass in nursing cadets also called Theresa Green. Makes you wonder if parents are 'quite the ticket'? :angry:
