There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

Each White Room Quiz will have eight questions - with two questions from four categories. 

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

Those wishing to take part must pm me - @Mi-Amigo - with their answers between 12 noon today [Monday] and 11.59pm tomorrow [Tuesday]

Today`s WRQ questions are two questions from each of these cateories

 

    NATURE   ART [one question on sculpture; one on paintings]    SPORT

 

and two ODD questions - one on COLOURS and one on LOGOS

 

Please note: there is no QI-style question [where the answer is not what most people think] this time.

Q2 [ART - 1 SCULPTURE] Which British sculptor produced the sculpture "Mother and Child" in 1934 ?

 

Q3 [SPORT - 1] Which was the host city of the 1972 Summer Olympics ?

 

Q4 [ODD - 1: COLOURS] In heraldry, the tincture called "gules" is what colour ?

 

Q5 [NATURE - 2] What type of animal is a  fulmar ? 

 

Q6 [ART - 2 PAINTING] Who painted "The Night Watch" in 1642 ?

 

Q7 [SPORT - 2]  What is the length, in metres, of the hurdling event in the men`s decathlon in the

                            Summer Olympics ? 

 

Q8 [ODD - 2: LOGO] Which international airline features a kangaroo as the logo on the tail of its

                                    airplanes ? 

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members of the Community.

 

Those who want to take part must pm [private message] me [Mi-Amigo] with their answers between 12 noon today [Mon 10 August] and 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tuesday 11 August]

- allowing 36 hours to pm your answers.

 

Please do not post your answers on the thread.

 

The answers - and results for each player taking part - will be posted on morning of Wed 12 August.

 

Each member will be awarded star for each correct answer. In addition, each member who gives

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 12 noon today [Mon 10 August 2020] and before 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tues 11 August 2020].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 23.59 [11.59pm] on Tuesday 11 August will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers.

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

New members, who have recently joined the Community, and members who have not taken part before, are welcome to join the "regulars" with this week`s quiz. 

 

Please feel free to post any comments on the questions - but not the answers - on this thread.

If you have any questions about the quiz, please ask and I will reply here.

A3     Munich, Germany

 

Q4 [ODD - 1: COLOURS] In heraldry, the tincture called "gules" is what colour ?

A4     red

 

Q5 [NATURE - 2] What type of animal is a  fulmar ? 

A5     bird

 

Q6 [ART - 2 PAINTING] Who painted "The Night Watch" in 1642 ?

A6     Rembrandt

 

Q7 [SPORT - 2]  What is the length, in metres, of the hurdling event in the men`s decathlon in the

A7    This was the "trickier" question. Although 400m is a race in the men`s decathlon, it is not a

          hurdling event. The correct answer is 110m hurdles in men`s decathlon [100m in women`]

 

Q8 [ODD - 2: LOGO] Which international airline features a kangaroo as the logo on the tail of its

                                    airplanes ? 

A8   Qantas [which is an acronym for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd]
