There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

 

Today`s White Room Quiz is eight questions - with two questions on each of these categories 

 

   GEOGRAPHY   SPACE   MOVIES   EVENTS

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

Those wishing to take part must pm me - @Mi-Amigo - with their answers between 12 noon today [Monday] and 11.59pm tomorrow [Tuesday].

Please do not post your answers on the thread.

                         space between 1961 and 1963 ?

 

Q7 MOVIES 2  What was the subtitle of the third movie in "The Hobbit" series, released in 2014 ?

 

Q8 EVENTS 2   Name one of the two traditional birthstones for the month of November 

                          [sorry, no extra mark or star for knowing both birthstones]

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members of the Community.

 

Those who want to take part must pm [private message] me [Mi-Amigo] with their answers between 12 noon today [Mon 08 March 2021] and 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tues 09 March 2021]

- allowing 36 hours to pm your answers.

 

Please do not post your answers on the thread.

 

The answers - and results for each player taking part - will be posted on morning of Wed 10 Mar 2021

 

Each member will be awarded star for each correct answer. In addition, each member who gives

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 12 noon today [Mon 08 Mar 2021] and before 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Tues 09 Mar 2021].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 23.59 [11.59pm] on Tues 09 Mar 2021 will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers.

 

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

New members, who have recently joined the Community, and members who have not taken part before, are welcome to join the "regulars" with this week`s quiz. 

 

Please feel free to post any comments on the questions - but not the answers - on this thread.

If you have any questions about the quiz, please ask and I will reply here.

        four quizzers [see Results] mentioned Redstone. On checking, Redstone rocket was used to launch

        Mercury capsule with Ham [chimp]; Alan Shepard; Gus Grissom before Atlas rocket.

        So I will also accept Redstone as a correct answer and award a star

 

Q7 MOVIES 2  What was the subtitle of the third movie in "The Hobbit" series, released in 2014 ?

A7   Battle Of Five Armies

        two quizzers [see Results] mentioned There And Back Again as the subtitle. On checking, There

        And Back Again was the proposed title for the proposed launch in Dec 20112 but was changed

        to Battle Of Five Armies for launch in 2014. 

        So I will also accept There And Back Again as a correct and award a star

 

Q8 EVENTS 2   Name one of the two traditional birthstones for the month of November

Redstone was 1958 to 1960. Atlas was late 1960 to 1963 as per the dates in the question wink

To clarify my decision with regards to the answers.

The question read:

What was the name of the space rocket used to launch the US Mercury capsules into space between 1961 and 1963 ?

Redstone was used to launch HAM [chimp] into space on 31 Jan 1961; to launch Alan Shepard into space on 5 May 1961; to launch Gus Grissom into space on 21 July 1961 - i.e. all were launched into space by Redstone within the timeframe [1961-1963] specified in the question.

In addition, some quizzers did state that Redstone was succeeded by Atlas.

 

I found it interesting that further facts come from the quiz. As has been said before, every day is like a schoolday on White Room Quiz yahoo
