Hey guys,
If you had to pick one moment from all time sporting history as your favourite or most stand out moment what would it be?
I’m only a casual follower of team sports but for me Rene Higuita’s scorpion-kick save from the England v Colombia friendly in 1995 was out of this world! Totally unexpected and he pulled it off too!
How about you guys, what great sporting moments really stick in your mind?

That was the only one that literally made the hair on the back of my head stand up and send shivers down my spine....
I cried when the final whistle went.
Was surprised how many fans turned off and missed the end .
You should always watch a match til the final whistle
That reminds me of when Liverpool beat AC Milan to win the Champions League in 2005. Losing 3 nil at half time, they looked well beaten and totally outclassed, before staging a magnificent comeback to take the match into extra time, and then winning the penalty shoot-out. It was pure drama, but I remember seeing a lot of disconsolate scousers leaving the stadium early, because they thought their team's challenge was over. Imagine travelling all that way, and end up missing one of your team's finest victories.
I never understand why people leave before the final whistle..it's a funny old game as they say..miracles happen ⚽:smileyhappy: x

Talk of Mo Farah has reminded me of a time when Britain dominated middle distance running:

They're not true fans in my opinion. Nobody enjoys seeing their team struggle, but as you say, miracles do happen, and we've seen some great comebacks in sport

My greatest sporting moment of all time was when I let my eldest daughter beat me at Uno. There were less than two cards left to be placed down and the table being on tenterhooks as an atmosphere thick enough to cut with a knife could be inhaled if you were brave enough to consider a silly mistake. She placed down a card, I declined to use my pick up four and instead obtained another from the pack - round the table again we went - a blue or seven needed to win by her, I knew that her sister (for whom it would be the turn before older child) had a blue and the chances were good for a win. The inevitable happened and with great glee, joy, celebration she took the game as victor - and the whistle has just gone, meaning I have spoken for a whole minute and gained an extra point.
This is my second greatest sporting moment of all time in history.

@Cleoriff There knees must have gotten really cold lol!
@Poppysmum Haha I bet a lot of people were gutted they missed that!
@MI5 I'm not a massive football fan so not aware of that match. What makes it stand our for you?
@Anonymous We did pretty well in the Olympics so you never know we might see a return of British dominance on the track!
@Daddydoink Awesome memorable events haha!

@Martin-O2 I can answer the one @MI5 posted. We both live near Coventry. In fact I lived there till I got married. Coventry City winning the FA cup went against all the odds. We were playing Spurs who were FA Cup giant killers...(having previously won two) Coventry, very unfancied beat Spurs 3-2 after extra time...
BBC commentator John Motson stated it was "the finest Cup Final I've had the pleasure of commentating on"

Ahh OK so a good old underdog victory! Always makes things more interesting then if the favourites just win it with no effort.
