Hey guys,

If you had to pick one moment from all time sporting history as your favourite or most stand out moment what would it be?

I’m only a casual follower of team sports but for me Rene Higuita’s scorpion-kick save from the England v Colombia friendly in 1995 was out of this world! Totally unexpected and he pulled it off too!

How about you guys, what great sporting moments really stick in your mind?

Martin

Without doubt Torville and Dean . I never tire of watching their routine to Ravels Bolero...

I watched it with my Mum and Dad...who reckoned they could win anything... even if they skated with carpet slippers on....:smileywink:

It was an iconic routine...so many restrictions in 1984. It paved the way for others to follow, but never matched this in my opinion. Scored all perfect 6.0's

@Cleoriff Amazing performance! I'm not too familiar with figure skating. What restrictions did they have in place for the competition?

So many to be honest

  • Ian Botham in the Ashes Series in 1981. Hitting 149 runs in the second innings, tremendous and unforgettable
  • Obviously the 1966 World Cup matches, not least that amazing final
  • England winning the Rugby World Cup in 2003
  • Mo Farrah's double gold at the 2012 Olympics
  • The 1999 Champions League Final where Man United scored twice in the last 2 minutes to beat Bayern and complete the Treble.

Definetly those 2 can still remember screaming at the tv slight_smile

Well  there were restrictions on how many jumps, spins,  and other movements (specific to ice dance) that could be included. The length of time for each dance was 4 minutes and their routine was 6 minutes. They got round this by starting the programme on their knees without taking a step into the programe. The moment they stood up was when the clock started....Nowadays the routine would be rejected as the rules require more technical  content than creative....

This is how they started in 1984.....and moved around in this position for 2 minutes...Brilliant and innovative Bouncy

Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill entered the record books for their passionate and moving dance to Ravel's Bolero scoring a row of perfect 6.0s for artistic merit

I cried when the final whistle went.

Was surprised how many fans turned off and missed the end .

You should always watch a match til the final whistle wink
