I came across “cheese rolling” which is an annual event in Gloucester which involves chasing a 3kg wheel of cheese down a very steep hill. The winner of the event is the person who reaches the bottom of the hill first and get hold of the cheese wheel. The speed people fly down the hill is insane and there are serious injuries every year.
What’s the most unusual/strange sport you’ve encountered?

What actually defines a sport. Cheese rolling would be lower down my list than the yard of ale contest at my local or the not to be missed rat eating contest in Pattaya (great fun but I would never enter )

I think for this thread we can be pretty lose with the definition.
Rat eating counts as they have the Glutton Bowl in the US where they describe the contestants as "athletes" Although I think I'll be joining you in the spectators stands for that one!

Rubber duck racing is good fun - I think the most unusual sport I've ever seen is snail racing.

Quite close to where I live the Athersone Ball game has been running for years. Sometimes its pretty life or death. As a nurse our A/E dept was full on the day this took place...
