OK - confession time....
I have owned, over the years, a Lada, Skoda (old type), and a Trabant - thankfully not at the same time.
All have been as bad as rumoured, and good for building up one's mechanical skills.
Can anyone top this list of motoring dog toffee

I have read that the Matiz was a grot bucket never driven one.
It is thrilling to drive a "car" that you would never go near
in the real world~well done @pgn
When I was a sprout my father hired a Triumph Herald this was
in Malta, seemed ok to me, he came from an era when you were
lucky to get home in the car that you bought and always had
huge tool boxes for every eventuality in the boot!!

The boot in that titchy car had barely any room for shopping, let alone a toolbox
When 5 of us had to get back to the airport, the guy who owned it arrived with one of the tiniest Japanese vans I have seen, to take 2 of us and our cases, and the other three of us in the Matiz, from the house we had rented for the week back to the airport.
T'was an adventure, for sure, with a heavily pregnant Mrs pgn at the time
All survived, and had a wonderful holiday.

Got that T Shirt @gmarkj
1969 850cc new ~ rusted in about 1 year
Hoses were bad.
Rust definitely.
Nice little crimped top hat for roof ~loved rust too.
The distributor right down in the front! great for water.
The gear stick was about a mile long and wobbly.
The inside heater was extra.
Rubber mats on floor (not a bad thing)
Seat material was plastic or something like
that (that was good scrub up good)
Sliding windows.
Strings to open doors from inside.
Absolutely no security (what's that)
No radio of course.
Strings to hold boot from dropping to floor when opening.
All keys seemed to open all minis (had that experience) walked up to wrong mini
same colour similar parking spot ~ opened with key! Saw not my stuff. Got out
locked door, walked up road and opened my mini!
BUT what fun went everywhere loved it don't know why
Bliss

Maintain self ~ yes absolutely @gmarkj
The points were changed remember that.
Reg. Maint. was essential really to keep the darn thing running.
It would let you know, if you didn't give full attention!
Drums all round to ~ took about two days to stop! (joking):tongue_winking:
