What is happening to education in the UK?

From a report in "Belfast Telegraph" which i am sure will also feature in mainland newspapers:-

From a survey of 1000 children for a Brent Cross Shopping Centre it seems 20% of kids believe Jesus plays for Chelsea and 25% think the Wise Men found the baby in the manger with the assistance of Google Maps.

Sadly it's not just in the UK... when I go back to Portugal on holiday, when I hear the teenagers taking amongst themselves it makes me cringe!! Sometimes I'm not sure what language they speak!! And don't get me started on how they write!! ( I'm definitely getting old...starting to sound like my mother! )

I totally agree @Anonymous 

on a personal level, my son is somewhat embarassed with his handwriting (due to me & school not picking up that he has dyslexia) so eg it is his partner who wrote their holiday postcard to me

my son is so used to the spellchecking facility on pc's

& like others of his age was somewhat brought up on IT 

& possibly not the 3 R's
